DuckDB is an in-process OLAP database released in 2019 by the CWI database group in Amsterdam. It is MIT licensed. The design target was "SQLite for analytics"—an embeddable columnar engine with no server, no configuration, and a single-file on-disk format, optimized for analytical queries over Parquet, CSV, JSON, and its own native format.
